100 year history of the SWFR

1921-2021

According to the motto "At your side for 100 years" we, as a non-profit public institution, care for, advise and support you students for an optimal study environment. Whether it's inexpensive meals, affordable housing or social, cultural and financial support - we do our best to ensure that you have an unforgettable study time! #studylifeblackforest

This is something to celebrate!

To this end, a series of great events and anniversary celebrations will take place between April and October 2021, as well as the opening of a historical SWFR exhibition and the publication of a commemorative publication.

Look forward to free Mensa-rice pudding during the anniversary festival week, glamorous "Golden 20 Parties", an XXL flea market, creative competitions with juicy prizes, an open-air summer cinema, celebrity guests on the podium and many more activities!

It will be the birthday party of the year! #swfr100

Did you know that the first student strike of the Federal Republic of Germany was in Freiburg? Or that the Händel hostel was once a children's home? From the "Freiburger Studentenhilfe", founded in 1921 with a sewing and typing room, to SWFR today, a lot has happened! Find out more at our interactive SWFR exhibition.

Stay tuned!

We are publishing a commemorative publication to accompany the exhibition! It will show the social situation of the Freiburg students in a historical context as well as the development of their supervision by us. And, of course, we also want to take a look into the future and outline our objectives: Sustainable nutrition in our refectories, social and affordable housing and much more!

Look forward to a great anniversary year and celebrate with us 100 years SWFR!

We say thank you

Our anniversary is not only a great moment to celebrate, but also to

... to say THANK YOU-and to you students:

  • Thank you for your semester contribution - it helps all students in solidarity and is thus your concrete contribution to more equal opportunities!

  • Thank you for your productive pressure and the constructive cooperation - it not only helps us to constantly develop and operate successfully, but also to demand more financial support from the state so that studying is successful for everyone!

  • And the most important thing at the end: Thank you for the liveliness, the joy and the cosmopolitanism that you bring to the region - thanks to you, life pulsates!

And that is great! THANK YOU!

Off into the next 100 years:
You study - we do the rest!
