Every Thursday the International Club meets at MensaBar.
The motto of the Club Eveneings is to appreciate cultural diversity in different countries or regions. Participants experience modern and traditional dance, song, acrobatics, martial arts and live music first hand!
In the series ‘unterwegs’, students present travel experiences including vacations or exchange programmes. This could be a German student talking about experiences in a foreign country or a foreign student talking about experiences in Germany.
Mahlzeit! Who is the best cook? In the student chef challenge, that takes place at the Mensabar (canteen), two teams from different countries cook a three-course menu from a surprise bag filled with an assortment of ingredients. The only rules are that they have to finish within one hour using only two stove-top-cookers. Excitement and mishaps are guaranteed! A public jury decides the winner. During the challenge, a student band plays music, a quiz takes place and at the end there is an opportunity to taste the food while it lasts.
O-Ton-Kino: Students have the opportunity to see hard-to-find films in their original language. For example unknown films from Eastern Europe, French comedies and a box office hit every once in a while.
The ARD cult series Tatort and Polizeiruf 110 are shown in the Mensabar on a big screen. The series Tatort has been a Sunday German ritual for years. Members receive a free bowl of soup as long as supplies last. Hot soup and hot nights comfort the cold murder.
International students invite you…
Every Monday from 7pm the international students organise cross-cultural meetings in the Hofcafe.
For example Chinese students teach about the art of calligraphy or introduce you to the Chinese world of legends and fairy tales. Arabic students talk about their culture or celebrate fast-breaking with all those interested.
