Photo contest "China meets Europe" 2021

We would like to thank everyone who participated in any way in the photo contest, be it as a participant, jury or audience. Thanks to you, we were able to get a very colorful picture of the topic "China meets Europe". :)

In total, we received 17 photos for the contest and from them the jury selected 10 for the public voting. The jury have evaluated the photos based on the given criteria and have chosen two photos for the jury prize. From the 10 photos for the public vote, three photos were selected for the audience award by the free audience. 

Congratulations to the winners! But also many thanks to all participants, no matter if you won a prize or not, also no matter if you were selected for the public vote or not. We look forward to seeing you again at the next photo contest!

How does China meet Europe in the eyes of the students in Freiburg and the surrounding area? Take part in the public vote to find out. :)



On the occasion of the Chinese New Year 2021 for the Year of the Ox, we would like to invite all students of the universities and colleges from the network of Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald, as well as students from the Upper Rhine universities of the EUCOR network in Germany and France to part take in the photo contest "China meets Europe".

Time period to submit photos:
From 8th to 18th February 2021

Theme:
“China meets Europa”

Scope:
A maximum of one single photo per participant will be accepted.

Format:

  • The image should be submitted in JPG (*.jpg) file.
  • The image file should have a resolution of 300 dpi.
  • The maximum file size is 6 MB.

Procedure:

  • To participate in the photo contest, interested parties should fill out the online registration form in the period from 8th to 18th February 2021, as well as upload the image file there.
  • From 19th to 25th February 2021, an independent jury will pre-select a maximum of 10 photos for a later public vote.
  • From 1st to 7th March 2021, the public vote will take place on the platform "Pullunit". All photos pre-selected by the jury will be uploaded to the platform for the public vote. In the process, the names of the photographers as well as the titles of the photos will be published on "Pullunit".
  • On 11th March 2021, the three photos with the most votes from the public will be awarded. In addition, we will award a jury prize for the photo best rated by the jury.

Selection criteria of the jury for the pre-selection:

  • Photographic quality
  • Aesthetic quality
  • Creativity in the implementation of the theme

Students of the universities and colleges of the network of Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald eligible to participate:

  • Katholische Hochschule Freiburg
  • Evangelische Hochschule Freiburg
  • Musikhochschule Freiburg
  • Hochschule Macromedia Freiburg
  • ISBA - Internationale Studien- und Berufsakademie Freiburg
  • Hochschule Offenburg
  • Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Kehl
  • Hochschule Furtwangen
  • Duale Hochschule BW Villingen-Schwenningen
  • Duale Hochschule BW Lörrach

Students of the Studierendenwerk and CROUS as well as universities and colleges in Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Colmar and Karlsruhe are also eligible to participate.

1. The participant confirms that the submission of the images does not violate any rights of third parties, such as copyrights, trademark rights, and intellectual property.

2. All image rights must be held by the participant him/herself. The photo are not allowed to be blocked by agencies or publishers. In the case of photographs of people, a written permission from the person depicted must be obtained.

3. Participants in the photo contest grant the Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald the right to use the submitted photos free of charge, irrevocably, without any restrictions in terms of time, place, number of copies or media. This then refers in particular to the following rights:

  • Studierendenwerk Freibug-Schwarzwald may make the submitted photos publicly available in print or digitalized form, exhibit them publicly, and report on them in the media (radio, television, social media).
  • The participant in the photo competition also agrees that the Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald may name the participant if the photos are used/published as described above.

By submitting the pictures, the participant accepts the following conditions of participation in full:

  1. The pre-selection of the images for the public vote will be made by an independent jury. The decisions of the jury are final and cannot be appealed.
  2. The Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald reserves the right to exclude participants from the photo contest without giving reasons, e.g. in the event of a breach of the conditions of participation or the sending of inappropriate or offensive photos.
  3. Furthermore, the Studierendenwerk Freiburg-Schwarzwald reserves the right to cancel or interrupt the photo competition at any time without prior notice and without giving reasons (e.g. for technical reasons).
  4. The winners will be informed by email at the email address they have provided. The prize money will be paid out exclusively to the winners.
  5. The claim to the prize shall expire if the winners cannot be reached, if they do not respond or if they do not accept the prize after 21 days, calculated from the date of the first publication of the winners.
  6. The legal process is excluded.
