PLEASE NOTE: THE DORMITORY IS FULLY BOOKED. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY ANYMORE.
If you are looking for an affordable place in Freiburg and you are interested in volunteer work with refugees, you are at the right place!
The Studierendenwerk Freiburg (SWFR) is working on the integrative housing project Längenloh in Zähringen, one of Freiburg’s neighborhoods. The project allows students to live in furnished apartments in the same dormitory as refugees. Starting October 15, students will be able to move into the dormitory.
Therefore, we are looking for German and international students who would like to be involved in volunteer work while living within a multicultural neighborhood. There are many established projects like the bicycle repair shop or the city garden as well as new projects like a buddy program, various sport programs and German classes where students can become active in. At the same time, it is always possible to develop your own project.
The time at the dormitory Längenloh is limited to one semester. However, students who volunteered at Längenloh have the option to move afterwards to an apartment in one of the other university dormitories (for a total of 6 semesters maximum).
Alternatively, you can become part of the Längenloh housing projects as tutor. As tutors you will coordinate and oversee the volunteer work on-site and provide assistance and advice if needed. Tutors can but do not have to live at the Längenloh dormitory. Working hours will be approximately 20-30 hours per month.
