Why sort organic waste? 🍃

Organic waste makes up a large part of our everyday trash. When it is thrown away with general household waste, it is often incinerated or sent to landfills, producing greenhouse gases and wasting a valuable resource.

By sorting organic waste separately, we give it a second life. Organic waste can be transformed into compost or biogas, helping to:

✔️reduce the amount of residual waste,

✔️lower pollution and CO₂ emissions,

✔️naturally enrich soils,

✔️support a more circular and sustainable economy.

What can go into the bio-waste container?

You can place the following items in the bio-waste container:

✔️leftover food (raw or cooked),

✔️fruit and vegetable peels and scraps,

✔️coffee grounds and paper filters,

✔️tea bags (without staples),

✔️eggshells,

✔️wilted flowers and small garden cuttings,

✔️paper towels and tissues (not plastic-coated).

These materials are natural and decompose easily.

What does not belong in the container 🚫

To ensure proper treatment of organic waste, please do not put:

❌plastic, even if labeled “biodegradable”

❌metal, glass, or packaging

❌hygiene products

❌ashes or hazardous waste.

Correct sorting helps keep the recycling process efficient

A simple action with a collective impact

Sorting organic waste is free of charge, easy to do, and beneficial for everyone. By adopting this habit in your daily life, you help close the loop: less waste, more resources, and a more sustainable future.

Thank you for being part of the change 🌍.
