Housing Eligibility Certificate (WBS)
For a large part of our family apartments in the Studentensiedlung as well as in the dormitory at Falkenbergerstraße 20a in Freiburg, which is subsidized by the 'Young Living' program, a housing eligibility certificate (WBS) from the state of Baden-Württemberg is required.
The WBS is official proof that you meet the requirements to move into social housing. It must be issued in Baden-Württemberg and is then also valid for Baden-Württemberg. Foreign students with a residence permit (visa) of at least one year can also apply for this. However, there is no guarantee of a room in a hall of residence in the SWFR, despite the WBS.
Income limit for a single person: max. € 57,800 gross annual income (as of 2025)
Wohnberechtigung: Ministerium für Landesentwicklung und Wohnen Baden-Württemberg
Foreign students can apply for a WBS if they are allowed to stay in Baden-Württemberg for at least one year. Proof of a residence permit for more than one year.
