Climate Rave with award ceremony of the energy saving competition "Dorms for the Climate!"

On June 27th, SWFR organized an energy self-sufficient bicycle-powered Climate Rave in the MensaGarten as part of the summer festival week: On Frelo stationary bicycles provided by VAG, motivated cyclists produced the electricity for our DJ Roberto through the device of Solare Zukunft e.V.. On site, CampusGrün provided additional entertainment with their interactive booth throwing cans. Almost 250 guests celebrated sustainability together as well as the motto of the evening: Body and Energy. Our sustainability manager Bernhard Bröker was also available to exchange ideas with students during the evening. Thanks to our sponsor Elektrizitätswerke Schönau and the generous provision of bicycles by VAG, the evening was a complete success.

The occasion of the evening was the award ceremony of the winning dormitory of the energy saving competition of all Freiburg dormitories of SWFR, which was held from May to mid-June 2023. The prize money for a dormitory event was awarded to the village council of the Oikos student house in Vauban. This was able to save 0.44% of their electricity consumption per inhabitant:in the initial period (11.4.-2.5.) over the entire measurement period (2.5.-13.6).
